Janina Fisher, PhD., is a licensed clinical psychologist and instructor at the Trauma Center, an outpatient clinic and research center founded by Bessel van der Kolk, and known for her expertise as both a therapist and consultant. She teaches extensively in the field of trauma with a specialty of dissociation and sensorimotor psychotherapy. Her most recent book is Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma: a Workbook for Survivors and Therapists.

She is concerned with understanding how the psychodynamic model is not helping with trauma work, contending that clinicians should not be making clients’ symptoms worse. She explores transgenerational trauma as well as the role of addiction in trauma work, and has led Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment.
