Lynn Lyons, LICSW, is a psychotherapist, author, and speaker specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders in adults and children and traveling globally as a speaker and trainer on the subject of anxiety, its role in families, and the need for a preventative approach at home and in schools. She produces a series of workshops, webinars, and books on managing anxiety in children and families; her most recent webinar is Fusterclux: How to Manage Anxiety in Children and her most recent book is Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents: Seven Ways to Stop the Worry Cycle and raise Courageous and Independent Children.
She shares her sense that therapists need to speak simply and be less intellectualized (she never wanted to go to graduate school!). She talks about her own coping strategies, how she reinvigorates herself, and offers advice for younger therapists, emphasizing the use of humor (and of seeking out humor for ourselves), and the role of physical exercise as a coping mechanism.
