Patricia Arredondo, EdD., founder and president of the Arredondo Advisory Group, is a second-generation Mexican-American counseling psychologist, primarily recognized for her efforts in developing the area of multicultural counseling and in specializing in advancing the awareness of ethnic minority psychology. She has been active on the board of various divisions of the American Psychological Association and the National Latinx Psychological Association, is the recipient of a significant number of awards in the field of mental health, and is the author of eight books and numerous articles, the most recent title being Latinx Immigrants.

 

She places emphasis on multicultural counseling, having begun her career in the public school system with her first “organizational intervention” to help refugee students achieve. She continues to work in dual tracks, education and counseling, and consults with universities where the “curriculum isn’t embedding cultural competency and awareness.”
