Stan Tatkin PsyD, MFT, is a clinician, researcher, teacher, and developer of PACT (a psychobiological approach to couples therapy). An international speaker and trainer, he is respectful and assertive in his style of challenging couples to change and promotes this respectful intervention as a part of his model. His main principle is understanding and encouraging secure attachment in couples, and he’s the author/co-author of seven books, most recently We Do: Saying Yes to a Relationship of Depth, True Connection and Enduring Love.

He’s made significant contributions to the field of couples therapy, though he “never intended to develop anything like this.” He talks about the “fog of the future” being that “you never know where you are going,” and takes his mistakes and failures to heart. “Our field is one of the only fields where we take things personally.”
